Kalki 2898 AD Day 1 Box Office

The Indian epic dystopian sci-fi action thriller film with the biggest budget in Indian film history yet is finally in the theaters and the numbers are looking pretty good.

The highly anticipated Telugu language epic dystopian sci-fi film Kalki 2898 AD is finally in the theaters, and there was a bit of confusion about whether the film would have a successful run. All of those confusions are put to rest with the film’s opening day box office earnings, which amount to a total of Rs. 191.50 cr.

With a mountain like budget of Rs. 600 crore, it could have a big disaster for the Indian film industry because Kalki 2898 AD is the first film of its kind in India and if the people had rejected the film there was no coming back this genre in India for years to come.

Directed by Nag Ashwin from a screenplay co-written by Ashwin and Rutham Samar, the sci-fi film is set in 2928 AD, nearly six thousand years into the Kali Yuga where the rich have built themselves a utopia of sorts known as the “Complex” by exploiting the poor people of Kasi. The film shows the events before a modern avatar of lord Vishnu known as Kalki is born and how the evil forces try to stop it.

Kalki 2898 AD has a stacked cast, including Amitabh Bachchan as Ashwatthama, Prabhas as Bhairava, Deepika Padukone as Sum-80 aka Sumathi, Disha Patani as Roxie, Saswata Chatterjee as Commander Manas, Brahmanandam as Rajan, Rajendra Prasad as Rumi, Shobhana as Mariam, Anna Ben as Kyra, Pasupathy as Veeran, and finally Kamal Haasan as Supreme Yaskin.
