Chandu Champion at No 1 on Prime Video

Chandu Champion finally gets the appreciation it deserves. After its release on the streaming service, the Kartik Aaryan-led sports action biopic is trending at No.1 on Prime Video. At the same time, it is hard to understand why a brilliant film like Chandu Champion didn’t make a mark upon its release in theaters. We are still going to try to make sense of it.

Chandu Champion is what happens when the marketing team for a film messes up so badly that it can’t even get the audience to understand the essence of the film. The Kabir Khan film has to be one of the best movies to come out this year and still went down as a flop at the box office. With an estimated budget of Rs 70-140 crore, the brilliant director of films like Bajrangi Bhaijaan, and the star power of Kartik Aaryan, Chandu Champion still failed miserably at the box office earning only Rs 88.73 crore.

The marketing for the film was obviously bad as it couldn’t get people excited for such an entertaining and important film but all of the fault doesn’t lie with the marketing team as after the film was in theaters and the reviews had come out, we all knew that either through the reviews or from the people who went to see it that it was a good film, and the general public still didn’t support it.

I get that it is in each person’s purview on what they want to see or not but after not supporting a film like this we shouldn’t be the ones to blame Bollywood for not making good films because when they do, we just don’t show up. At the end of the day, they are also businessmen and women as they can’t always take a loss for even a good project like this.

Check out the trailer and official synopsis for Chandu Champion by Prime Video India:

“This is an unbelievable tale of a man who faced one adversary after another with an undying spirit. His unwavering zeal and never give up attitude led to India’s first individual gold medal in any form of the Olympics. This is the story of Chandu Champion!”
